Growing Together

The Strathcona Community Hospital Foundation was established in 2008. From the very beginning, we have been dedicated to the Hospital and the improvement of healthcare delivery within our community. We monitor the needs of patients and their families, staff, and the hospital. As those needs change and grow, we advocate for the resources needed to meet them, and fundraise so the Hospital can provide care above and beyond what would be possible with their standard funding.

The IV Therapy Room

The STCHF is undertaking a Capital Project the much needed expansion of the “IV Therapy Room.” The IV Therapy Room accommodates antibiotic and non antibiotic infusions to support the community for iron infusions, therapeutic phlebotomy, Eclasta infusions, Blood and Blood product infusions and Central line care. The IV Therapy clinic is serving 600 patient visits a month and operates 7 days a week. The much needed expansion would enable the Hospital to serve more patients. Estimated cost $1.4 million.

Why It's Needed

The STCHF is undertaking a capital project for the much-needed expansion of the IV Therapy Clinic. This project, the “IV Therapy Room”, will accommodate antibiotic and non-antibiotic infusions, including:

  • Eclasta infusions
  • Blood and blood product infusions
  • Central line care

Currently, the IV Therapy Clinic is open 7 days a week, serving 600 patient visits a month (and growing). The IV Therapy Room will provide a purpose-built space capable of handling the growing need for IV Therapy in a setting that is comfortable for patients and their families, and that more effectively meets the needs of staff delivering the therapy.

The estimated cost of the IV Therapy Room addition is $1.4 million.

The STCHF has worked closely with the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services towards this much needed addition to the hospital. With a commitment from the Foundation to raise $250,000 from community and corporate partners for the project, the Government of Alberta has graciously committed to covering the remaining costs.
